Clubhouse

Fenway Golf Club is a hidden jewel, located in Scarsdale not too far from convient major arteries, the club seems 1000 years away from even a suburban city once you pass the two stone pillars that mark its entrance. A long roadway, lined with majestic Norway maples, opens up to a circular driveway that brings one face to face with a stately mansion surrounded by 155 acres of breathraking greenery.

One day in 1920, Max Marx brought a handful of friends to the 40-acre Scarsdale estate of Eugene Reynal, which he thought would be an ideal spot for golf. The mansion on the property, destined to become the clubhouse, was a wedding gift from Reynal to his bride. Among other amenities, it included an indoor swimming pool. The estate was called "The Orchards" in recognition of numerious apple trees on the grounds.

The Reynal mansion, as might be expected, became the Fenway clubhouse. A fieldstone stucco building of English Country Manor design, in external appearance it has changed little since the 1920's. Two piazzas have been enclosed, one to build the club's bar room, the other to enlarge the dining room. Of course, numerous internal changes have been made to transform what once was a home into a golf facility, indeed one that has been rated for years among the most complete in the area. Once twenty guest rooms were available for members not living in the immediate Westchester area.

The glorious Fenway clubhouse, with its high ceilings and antique charm, provides an aurea of elegance for the club members and guests. Exquisite dining is offered, prepared by culinary experts and served by an attentive staff. Dinner dances, festive holiday parties and private social events are held in this setting of traditional elegance and style.
